The Strange Feast - Audio Experience

The Strange Feast
An Audio Experience
This is the final version of the audio experience. The creepy nature of the story drove the choice of genre.
This project involved taking a fairytale by the brothers Grimm, and creating an auditory experience based off of the story. Listening closely, one can hear a number of interesting features that help increase immersion. Panning was used to give the listener a sense of direction and to help them differentiate between characters. Sound effects and music were included to amplify the intensity in certain scenes and instill an uneasy feeling in others. Frequency levels were adjusted and echoing was added to achieve the feel of an old radio show. Finally, for the YouTube upload, a custom title screen was created to further set the mood and let the listener know what to expect.
This image depicts the starting plan for how to organize the audio.
Once the plan was finished, GarageBand was used to record and mix the first draft.
This is the first draft of the audio experience. Some of the panning and sound effects had yet to be added at this stage.
Many more sound effects were added to the final mix, and panning was added to further the immersion.
This title card was created for the YouTube upload. The style was derived from silent film title cards and was chosen because of how well it ties into the old fashioned radio feel of the audio file.
